Welcome to Tokens Only, a website dedicated to the preservation, documentation, and restoration of all things coin-op, with a focus on the golden age of arcades. Roughly the late 1970’s to the early 1980’s, with the occasional item falling outside that era. All coin op is fun afterall. Over the last few years I’ve had a number of problems with my original website, which first launched way back in May of 2008, almost 15 years ago! Tired of dealing with the issues, I’ve wiped out the old site and I’m starting fresh. I will be reposting the original content and adding plenty of new stuff, but my main goal is to get the Willis artwork gallery back online. I’ll load up the other galleries as well, but it takes time as I’ve opted to scan artwork rather than take photos. This helps me avoid issues with trapezoiding and other potential problems related to the old artwork. Scanning isn’t the perfect solution, but I’m going to give it a go. Here are a couple of pictures showcasing the evolution of Tokens Only.

Images courtesy of the Wayback Machine, a great place to find historical website data. The site on the left was the original with moving joystick graphics.  Unfortunately the original logo header was lost in this particular grab, but you get the idea. Both versions had rotating artwork headers that would showcase a different image after each refresh. I decided to focus on the content this time, so no fancy header, just a picture of the tokens in my Rowe BC-100, all shiny and ready to start up your next favorite game.

Tokens Only is online!

Welcome to Tokens Only, the home for my little slice of arcade nostalgia.  Here I hope to share all sorts of arcade goodness, starting with my gameroom and modest collection and progressing into some restoration tutorials and other useful info.  Special thanks to Jeff of rotheblog for fine tuning my site and getting me started with Word Press, I can’t thank him enough!

With this newly revamped site I hope to continue to share some of the fun things I have learned and found during this little adventure we call a hobby.  With piles of artwork, documents, and photos I have enough content to keep me busy for another 15 years!  Let me know if you have any suggestions or some cool artwork you’d like to share.
